Registered Nurse - General / Vascular Surgery

Under the supervision of the Site Manager, the Medical Office RN performs patient triage and assumes patient care responsibilities in support of multiple health care providers. The RN works in collaboration with physicians, other healthcare providers, and clinical support staff to plan and coordinate the delivery of patient care. The role requires knowledge and skills to provide expected standards of care based on physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational, spiritual, safety, and age‑appropriate considerations of patients. Responsibilities Telephone triage and assessment. Render patient care within the scope of their training, including administering immunizations and allergy injections, performing blood draws, and obtaining height, weight, and blood pressure on all patients and documenting appropriately in the patient’s chart. Assist physicians with minor procedures. Prepare exam rooms and restock supplies. Enter required information for prescription refills in the electronic medical record. Demonstrate organizational skills that maintain and coordinate safe delivery of quality care for assigned patients/families. Perform systematic patient and family assessments relevant to practice settings and record related health data. Analyze and interpret recorded data to make informed judgments regarding specific problems and nursing care elements mandated by particular situations. Deliver care specific to the age of the patient. Utilize listening skills and clinical judgment in decision making to telephonically assess severity of patient caller signs and symptoms. Evaluate effectiveness of care and adapt plan based on patient/family response. Provide patient care by: offering necessary physical care to appropriate patient populations (including ADLs, positioning, transporting, and treatments), utilizing and transporting equipment, monitoring and recognizing acute changes in the patient and intervening appropriately, and administering medications including blood and blood products. Establish professional relationships with nurses, physicians, other colleagues, patients, and families. Educate the patient and family about the patient’s illness and treatment including preventative measures appropriate to the patient. Collaborate, cooperate, and communicate with other healthcare providers to ensure quality and continuity of care. Qualifications Education: Nursing degree required. Licensure, Certification & Registration: Current RN license to practice in the state of Massachusetts; must maintain BLS certification. Experience: Medical office experience preferred. Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Excellent communication skills to educate and assist patients and interact with providers and staff; ability to make sound decisions under pressure; ability to handle confidential information. Pay Range Base hourly wage range: $32.24 – $55.29. Actual compensation is determined by factors such as seniority, education, training, experience, certifications, geography, job responsibilities, shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base rate pending these factors.
