Adult/Pediatric Flight ParamedicThe Adult/Pediatric Flight Paramedic provides advanced critical care to adult and pediatric patients during air and ground medical transport. Working as part of a Registered Nurse (RN)/Paramedic team, this role is responsible for patient assessment, triage, treatment, monitoring, and ongoing evaluation throughout transport.The Flight Paramedic practices with a high level of autonomy, using advanced clinical skills and established medical protocols under the direction of the program's medical director.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide critical care for adult and pediatric patients during pre-hospital and interfacility transportsAssess, treat, monitor, and evaluate patients throughout transport missionsDeliver care during helicopter, fixed-wing aircraft, and ground ambulance transportsUtilize advanced clinical skills and follow approved medical protocolsAccurately document patient care and clinical interventions in the medical recordCollaborate effectively with flight team members and healthcare partnersServe as a clinical resource by sharing knowledge and skills with team membersSupport community outreach and educational initiatives when neededMaintain a strong commitment to patient safety and quality care throughout all transport operationsIdeal CandidateThrive in fast-paced and high-stress environmentsDemonstrate strong critical thinking and decision-making skillsCommunicate effectively with patients, families, coworkers, and healthcare professionalsWork well independently and as part of a multidisciplinary teamExhibit professionalism, compassion, and excellent interpersonal skillsAdditional ExpectationsMaintain safety as the highest priority throughout all phases of transportSupport the mission and goals of UF Health ShandsCairFunction proficiently across air and ground transport platforms, including:Helicopter transportFixed-wing transportGround critical care transportMinimum QualificationsCurrent National Registry EMT-Paramedic certification requiredCurrent State of Florida Paramedic license requiredMinimum of 4 years of pre-hospital paramedic experience requiredValid Florida driver's license requiredRequired CertificationsThe following certifications are required upon hire:Basic Life Support (BLS)Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) or Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS)Preferred QualificationsCandidates with the following experience or certifications are strongly preferred:Experience in pre-hospital, flight, or critical care transport environmentsCCEMT-P certificationUFCCP certificationFP-C certificationAMCCC certificationNeonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certificationInstructor certifications in ACLS, PALS, and/or PHTLSThe following certifications must be obtained within 1 year of employment if not already held:CCEMT-P, UFCCP or FP-CAMCCCNRPFlorida-approved EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operator Course) certificationVehicle Operation RequirementsThis position requires operating vehicles for work-related purposes as a non-frequent driverCompletion of a Florida-approved EVOC driving course is preferred upon hire and required within 1 year of employment
