The School of Arts & Sciences provides excellence in learning opportunities for all students at SUNY Plattsburgh through a core liberal arts education. We develop students who can think critically, have mastered their discipline, can communicate effectively, and are broadly educated. As SUNY Plattsburgh is an institution that delivers challenging and high-quality educational experiences to a diverse group of learners, the successful candidate must demonstrate an understanding of and sensitivity to diversity, inclusion, and equity-minded policies, programs, and practices. A successful candidate may be asked to teach in a distance learning format dependent on the discipline. Areas of teaching/instructing for the Art Department include Art History, Ceramics, Drawing, Graphic Design, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, and Sculpture. The vita bank exists to provide a pool of candidates who might be available to fill anticipated positions as needed. Some Adjunct Instructors assigned to laboratories, theaters, or studios (art, theater, science) must participate in mandatory safety training before they can begin work. Training sessions are provided by the College during the first week of each semester. No additional compensation is provided for attendance at the mandatory safety training sessions.

Required Qualifications: Master's degree. A demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially with faculty, staff and administrators.

Preferred Qualifications: Terminal degree (M.F.A. Studio Art; Ph.D. Art History). College level teaching experience.
