Senior Brand Designer

We're a collectibles startup that quickly reached profitability with a small team of talented, dedicated people. Design is an important part of our brand and user experience, and we're growing the team to keep pace with the business.

The current state

Trove is an early stage B2C business, backed by top tier VCs, athletes, and celebrities, built by founders who have scaled and exited multiple startups. We've created a gamified e-commerce platform for trading cards that offers digital access to physical inventory. We have 12 full time employees and a number of contractors spread out across the US, Canada, Europe, and South America. On the design side, we currently have a Head of Design and a Product Designer.

We've made a number of recent hires on the GTM and Engineering teams, and as these new team members ramp there's a lot of additional work for Design. Having a second set of hands means we can do more and move faster while still holding a high bar for quality. We're early stage so a lot of the workflows and systems you'll need don't exist yet. These are things we'll build together.

The opportunity

You'll own the brand work that runs every day across social, email, web, and paid channels, fully leading projects from first concept through delivery. For bigger moments like launches and event activations you'll work with our Head of Design to shape the creative direction, then execute. Our product is incredibly interactive and there's a lot of animation, which you'd own (likely a mix of in-house and contract work). Beyond the digital space, we build creative for national events like Fanatics Fest, stadium graphics for Chicago Cubs games, special projects for things like the World Cup or Superbowl, and a lot of other fun and culturally relevant in person activations. No two days look the same and we're constantly looking for ways to push the boundaries and raise the bar. Being highly creative and finding new ways of doing things is a requirement to work here.

You'll work closely with Marketing, Partnerships, and Engineering on most projects. We all work directly with the founders and have the opportunity to contribute ideas and influence the roadmap. Everyone at Trove helps build the business and every person on the team today has meaningful impact.

What you bring

• 6+ years of brand design with a portfolio of projects you've personally led
• An incredibly high bar for design craft, which we can see through your work
• Experience with motion and animation
• Experience building brand systems that non-designers can easily use
• A clear point of view on typography, composition, and storytelling
• Regular use of AI tools across ideation, exploration, and production
• Your work goes beyond digital (merchandise, packaging, events)
• You've spent time at an early stage company and executed with very little structure

What success looks like

Launches, campaigns, and partner activations ship on time without cutting corners or compromising on creative. Design work for major initiatives starts well ahead of launch and the team generally operates in proactive mode, leaving space for ad hoc projects and experimentation. Templates and systems let the team produce more without starting from scratch, and outside partners are managed without a lot of back and forth or revisions. AI has been implemented to expand what one designer can do, but your taste and judgment are still used to decide. Whenever someone sees Trove in an ad, in a stadium, or at an event, the brand feels premium and unmistakably ours. Our app is known for its polished design and we regularly introduce new interactive features that keep the experience fresh and our users engaged.
