Visit our website: Position Summary The Princeton YMCA is seeking a dynamic, organized, and energetic individual to join our team as a Part‑Time Sports Coordinator . This role is responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising youth and adult sports programs while promoting a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment that aligns with the YMCA’s mission and core values. Under the direction of the Program Director and in collaboration with Sports Instructors, the Sports Coordinator will organize and run our youth and adult basketball leagues and sports programs, teach 2‑3 of the youth afternoon sport classes, and assist with registration. Essential Functions Adult Sports Oversees adult leagues and communicates scheduling, team records, payments, and season updates to participants. Collects team fees, rosters, and waivers. Issues YMCA league rules and league uniforms. Ensures proper equipment and gym time for adults. Develops and implements fundraising events involving adults and builds rapport to meet their needs. Maintains continuous communication with participants and parents regarding events and gym changes. Oversees referees, basketball coaches, and gym supervisors. Youth & Preschool Sports Conducts afternoon youth sports classes following the National YMCA youth sports philosophy. Prepares organized lesson plans for each class to provide students with a productive, positive learning experience through teaching skills, rules, and teamwork. Assists with registration administration and communicates with families about program enrollment. Hires, trains, onboard, and coaches assigned sports program staff and instructors. Supervises all assigned staff and oversees day‑to‑day program administration. Handles uniform orders, league registrations, and scheduling. Conducts daily visual checks of activity areas for safety factors affecting students and members. Secures, maintains, stores, and updates all sports equipment as necessary. Assists in creating new programs and bringing new ideas to support program growth. Demonstrates professional relationships, interpersonal skills to interact effectively with individuals and groups regarding social and cultural diversity, and competency and flexibility to carry out job responsibilities. Supports overall membership by conducting gymnasium facility tours. Partners with Program Director to achieve YMCA annual campaign department goals. Assists in monitoring class enrollment and meeting budget target goals for enrollment and revenue. Performs other duties as assigned and during shift downtime. Summer Camp Serves as summer camp sports coordinator during the 10‑week camp season. Assists with the development of a curriculum for the summer sports camp and supervises camp staff participation in daily camp activities. Assists in training staff for summer sports camp. Assists in developing a schedule of daily activities, session themes, and field trips. Assists with the development of camp brochure, registration, and schedules. Provides communication to all participants and parents via weekly schedules, daily updates, and administers roster changes seasonally. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in recreation, sports management, or education preferred. Previous experience in sports instruction, coaching, or recreation coordination. Strong organizational and time‑management skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire). Availability to work evenings and weekends as required by program schedules. Must have flexibility to accommodate work evenings and weekends. Work Environment & Physical Demands Frequently required to stand, walk, run, stoop, kneel, or crouch during sports activities. Must be able to lift, carry, and move equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Ability to work in both indoor gymnasium and outdoor field environments, often in varied weather conditions. Must be able to demonstrate and participate in sports drills and physical activity as needed. Must possess sufficient physical fitness to respond to emergency situations quickly and appropriately.
