About This Role

This role supports the Head Cook in delivering meals, maintaining a clean kitchen, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards at Great Bay Kids. Collaborating closely with the Head Cook and childcare staff, the Assistant Cook plays a key part in creating a positive dining experience for children. This position is currently available for our Pease Location.

This is a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children by providing them with nutritious, well-balanced meals and snacks.

• Deliver meals and pick up dishes after mealtime, ensuring the smooth operation of mealtimes.
• Wash, sanitize, and store dishes, utensils, and equipment properly to maintain a clean kitchen.
• Collaborate with childcare staff to accommodate dietary needs and special requests.
• Assist with food inventory, storage, and rotation of supplies.
• Prepare daily meals and snacks under the guidance of the Head Cook, following menus, nutritional guidelines, and food safety regulations.
• Support the Head Cook in their absence, ensuring meal service continues without disruption.
• Participate in planning and preparation for special events or celebrations involving meals/snacks.
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, adhering to health and sanitation standards.

• Ability to lift, carry, and transport food and supplies.
• Previous experience in food preparation or kitchen support, preferably in a childcare, school, or similar setting.
• Knowledge of safe food handling, sanitation, and storage practices.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing needs in a childcare environment.
• Strong organizational and teamwork skills.

• Food safety certification (or willingness to obtain).

• Serv Safe Certification
• First Aid and CPR

Great Bay Kids is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing quality early childhood education and school age enrichment programs for children. Our early education facilities are located in Exeter and Portsmouth, NH with school age programs offered in Exeter and Portsmouth (Summer only).
