Title I Teacher

The Title I Teacher works under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, as well as the building administration, to implement successful reading and/or mathematics instruction for students and performs related duties in accordance with District policies. The Title I Teacher is responsible for group and individual instruction in reading and/or math for students who meet state and federal guidelines. The Title I Teacher is also responsible for partnering with parents through collaboration, communication, and/or training. Essential Functions: The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as an illustration of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position. * Implement a variety of assessment instruments to determine the eligibility and instructional needs of students in reading and/or mathematics. * Collect and monitor student data and provide pre-and post-assessment data as required. Provide a variety of situational, appropriate instructional techniques and methods. Use techniques and methodologies appropriate to student abilities. * Demonstrate knowledge of and ability to use research-based principles of effective instruction. Organize instruction using learning objectives with clearly defined student outcomes. Employ teaching strategies congruent with planned student outcomes. Select teaching strategies emphasizing active student involvement. * Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective student learning. * Develop, communicate, and enforce expectations for student behavior and participation. * Communicate goals and academic expectations to students. * Provide students with feedback on their performance so they can take an active role in their own success. * Provide for the health and safety of students in all instructional settings. * Prepare effectively for reading and/or math instruction: * Prepare daily lesson plans that address student skill deficits and that actively engage all students. * Provide instruction based on District reading and math standards. * Employ effective instructional strategies. * Communicate learning targets. * Use a balance of direct instruction, guided practice, and individual practice. * Use effective engagement strategies. * Use effective questioning strategies to engage students cognitively. * Assess progress regularly and communicate to students. * Develop and communicate appropriate progress to students. * Assure that grading standards are explained and understood by the students, and available to parents at regular intervals. * Develop and maintain positive interpersonal relationships. * Model personal behaviors of honesty, fairness, courtesy, and consideration. * Maintain a cooperative relationship with administration, staff, paraprofessionals, students, and parents. * Communicate effectively with administration, parents, staff, and students. * Instruct and direct assigned paraprofessionals to maximize delivery of instructional services. * Provide documentation of student progress. * Provide timely and accurate feedback/documentation to students and parents. * Maintain appropriate records of student performance. * Keep parents and teachers informed through written and oral communication. * Exhibit personal interest and encourage student interest in reading and/or math. * Build motivation and interest in learning. * Maintain an ongoing personal program of professional growth and development. * Identify and request to attend professional development activities intended to increase the Title I Teacher's instructional effectiveness. * Participate in District-sponsored in-service offerings appropriate to the assignment. * Maintain current awareness of research on effective reading instruction. * Act as an instructional support to building staff in the area of reading and/or math. *Any other relative teaching duties as assigned. Education and Experience: A Bachelor's Degree in the area of major study is required. A Master's Degree and a minimum of five years of teaching experience are preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and relevant work experience will also be considered. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Massachusetts Teaching License. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. * The noise level in the classroom environment is moderate to loud. Work Year * 170 school days - 6 hours per day (per contract) * All faculty, staff, and curriculum meetings during the Title I Teacher work day Salary: * According to the NMRSDTA Contract (2024-2027) - Step 1: $33,680 per year - Step 2: $37,026 per year * salary is paid out in 25 equal increments, bi-weekly over the course of the school year, with a lump sum payment at the end of the year of payments 21-25 This job description does not constitute an employment agreement between the employer and employee and is subject to change by the employer as the needs of the employer and requirements of the job change.
