Direct Support Professional - Adult Day Program

Working as a Direct Support Professional at Devereux will allow you to collaborate with dedicated professionals who share your passion for helping individuals in need. Key Responsibilities Provide services to persons with mild to moderate developmental diagnosis, working with individuals who may exhibit challenging or aggressive behaviors. Assist, instruct, and support participants in the Adult Day Program with various activities. Ensure participants remain active, engaged, and productive. Actively supervise, coach, and mentor participants. Comfortably work in an environment where individuals may need assistance with hygiene care. Administer medications as necessary. Use a company vehicle to transport individuals to community activities. Accompany participants on community outings, medical appointments, and other activities as directed. Assist with meal preparation and service. Shift Information General shifts: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., Monday – Friday. This is not a full‑time position. Full‑time availability requires working weekend shifts in another Devereux program, with a minimum of three shifts. Compensation $19.00 – $19.25 per hour (based on experience and qualifications). Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. One (1) year of human service experience with children, adolescents, and adults preferred. Valid driver’s license with a good driving record and the ability to pass a thorough background check and Livescan. Ability to complete a two‑week paid on‑the‑job training program. Empathetic, energetic, a team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of behavior‑management theories, positive reinforcement, and the capacity to serve as a positive role model. Strong passion for working with and helping individuals with special needs. Physical and Work Environment Significant walking, sitting, standing, and occasional lifting up to 75–100 lbs. Use of protective equipment such as latex gloves, facial masks, protective eyewear, and gowns. Possible exposure to blood‑borne pathogens and use of automotive services for business purposes. Requires meeting 100% mastery of Safe and Positive Approaches training.
