Senior Mechanical Engineer

We have an outstanding Contract position for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a leading Company located in the Maple Grove, MN surrounding area.

Pay Rate: $54.14 - 60.32

**US Citizenship is required.**

Responsibilities:

• Researches, plans, analyzes, designs, and develops mechanical products such as ammunition handlingsystems, structures, gun systems, missile launchers, mechanisms, and other devices. 
• Performs technical analysis, testing, and evaluation of moderately complex engineering problems using specialized equipment and computer programs. 
• Analyzes and interprets design specifications, drawings, documents, models, and test results to ensure technical designs comply with applicable engineering standards, military specifications, and product requirements. 
• Develops and writes technical documentation, revises existing documentation, and provides input to technical papers or presentations. 
• May deliver technical presentations related to production support activities. 
• Create and maintain product parts, assemblies, and drawings using PTC Creo Parametric 11 modeling software. 
• Performs complex engineering design, development, analysis, experimentation, test, and product assurance tasks of limited complexity for a range of engineering design and analytical theory, principles, techniques, and practices on a complex portion of a technical project. 
• Develops and maintains effective relationships with customers. 
• Acquires and maintains up-to-date knowledge of relevant engineering disciplines, industry practices, trends, and applications. 
• Maintains a safe work environment and ensures compliance with safety policies and rules. 
• Provides input to project leaders for the development ofproject plans, schedules, and budgets.    

Basic Hiring Criteria: 

• Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant technical discipline (typically mechanical or aerospace engineering) plus 4 years of relevant experience or an M.S. degree and 2 years of experience. 
• Must have working knowledge of creating moderately complex solid models and mechanical designs using CAD systems, preferably PTC Pro-E or CREO. 
• Ability to solve moderately complex technical design and development problems that require a professional level of engineering knowledge. 
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written). 
• Experience working with internal or external shops to manufacture designs.    
• Minimum 4 years of work experience in a relevant work environment.    

Desired Qualifications:

• Familiarity with relevant military and commercial design standards. 
• Familiarity with current computer applications and technologies in applicable engineering disciplines. 
• Experience in a military product production environment. 
• Experience in developing precision assembly tooling.    
• Good working knowledge of GD&T principles (ASME Y14.5-2009 or -2018).
• Good working knowledge of Tolerance Stack Analysis. 
• 2+ years of experience with Creo modeling and drawing generation. 
• Experience with the EPOM system, preferably Windchill.
