Job Title: Maintenance General Construction Specialist

Job Description

This role focuses on performing routine repairs and maintenance for plant and office facilities, with a strong emphasis on construction-related tasks. You will complete basic carpentry, electrical, and mechanical work, build and repair framed walls, repair drywall, and paint interior spaces. You will also work with hand and power tools to maintain and improve facility infrastructure, ensuring a safe, functional, and well-maintained environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine repairs and maintenance on plant and office facilities and equipment.
• Build, modify, and repair metal-framed and wood-framed walls for offices and facility spaces.
• Repair and finish drywall surfaces, including patching, sanding, and preparing for paint.
• Paint walls and other surfaces, ensuring clean, even, and professional finishes.
• Support office remodeling and renovation projects, including layout changes and interior updates.
• Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to complete construction and maintenance tasks.
• Interpret and work from blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications as needed.
• Perform routine inspections of facilities to identify necessary repairs and maintenance work.
• Troubleshoot issues in building structures and finishes and recommend appropriate repair solutions.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area while adhering to all safety requirements, including the use of required protective equipment.
• Manage multiple maintenance and remodeling projects simultaneously and complete tasks within established timelines.

Essential Skills

• Minimum 5 years of experience building metal-framed walls.
• Minimum 5 years of experience building wood-framed walls.
• Minimum 5 years of experience repairing drywall.
• Minimum 5 years of experience painting walls and finishing surfaces.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in office remodeling, residential remodeling, or home repair projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction techniques, tools, and materials.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
• Experience using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in general facility maintenance within plant or office environments.
• Experience in basic carpentry, including framing and finishing work.
• Exposure to basic electrical and mechanical tasks related to facility maintenance.
• Ability to conduct routine facility inspections and identify maintenance needs.
• Comfort working on both new construction and remodeling projects.
• Strong commitment to safety practices and use of personal protective equipment.

Work Environment

Work is performed on-site at a facility located at WSMR, with a 4x10 schedule, Monday through Thursday, providing three consecutive days off each week. The role involves active, hands-on work in plant and office environments, including construction, remodeling, and general maintenance tasks. You will regularly use hand tools and power tools and may work in areas under renovation or repair. Safety is a priority, and safety shoes, goggles, and leather gloves are required attire for this position. The environment supports focused, independent work while also requiring coordination with other trades and facility personnel as needed.

This is a Contract position based out of White Sands, NM.

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in White Sands,NM.
