Senior Accountant- Fixed Assets

Company DescriptionFortune 500 Manufacturing CompanyJob DescriptionAccount for and perform month-end close procedures for: fixed assets, capital leases, debt, intangibles, and allocationsRecord the cost of newly-acquired fixed assets (both tangible and intangible) in accordance with company policy. Ensure compliance with technical accounting requirements related to lease accounting, asset capitalization, depreciation methodology, impairment recognition, etc.Track existing fixed assets and periodically substantiate recorded balances via physical inventories and/or confirmations.Calculate and record depletion, depreciation and amortization; Calculate depreciation for all fixed assets. Review and update the detailed schedule of fixed assets and accumulated depreciation. Preparation of monthly depreciation expense.Conduct periodic impairment reviews for intangible assets.Prepare audit schedules relating to fixed assets, and assist the auditors in their inquiries. Prepare and file property tax returnsTrack company expenditures for fixed assets in comparison to the capital budget and management authorizationsWork with Tax Department to ensure tax records are adequateSpecial projects as assignedQualificationsBachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related disciplineCPA, CMA and/or MBA preferred (strong understanding Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)4-6 years accounting experience, including broad exposure to fixed assets accountingMust be highly analytical and inquisitive with strong organizational abilities, keen attention to detail, and ability to meet monthly deadlines and goalsStrong working knowledge Microsoft Office; proficient in Excel, Access, and WordKnowledge of Infinium, Oracle, Hyperion and/or Business Objects a plusExcellent organizational, managerial, interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills, ability to work in a team-based, continuous improvement environmentBusiness AcumenReport and review the correctness, relevance and timeliness of the financial and other information that is provided for managementAdditional Information$70K to $80K plus BonusPlease email View email address on click.appcast.io: Full-timeFunction: Accounting/AuditingExperience level: Mid-Senior LevelIndustry: Consumer Goods
