About the Role We are seeking an experienced and driven Machine Shop Manager to lead and optimize our machining operations. This role is responsible for ensuring performance across safety, quality, delivery, and cost while providing strategic oversight of shop operations, equipment, and team development. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with hands‑on machining expertise, a proactive mindset, and a passion for continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Lead daily machine shop operations to meet production schedules and performance targets (quality, delivery, cost) Monitor and report on key metrics, including OEE, cycle times, and throughput Manage equipment lifecycle, including capital planning, upgrades, and replacements Serve as primary contact for machinery vendors (installation, commissioning, service) Optimize shop layout to improve workflow, efficiency, and safety Communicate shop capacity, timelines, and capabilities to cross‑functional teams (Engineering, Sales, Planning) Oversee preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime Ensure compliance with OSHA and internal safety standards Maintain accurate records for maintenance, calibrations, and repairs Partner with Engineering on manufacturability, drawings, and technical specifications Leadership Responsibilities Lead, coach, and develop a team of machinists and operators Manage daily workflow, staffing, and scheduling to maximize productivity Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback Oversee training and cross‑training programs Support setup machinists with tooling, fixtures, and first‑run success Troubleshoot shop floor challenges and improve operational flow Facilitate daily shift meetings and communicate priorities and updates Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field (or equivalent experience) 7+ years in a machine shop environment, including 3+ years in a leadership role Strong experience with CNC machining (milling, turning, etc.) Proven ability in capacity planning, resource allocation, and shop floor management Experience with capital equipment procurement and vendor management Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD models Strong understanding of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills Experience in a regulated industry (medical device, aerospace) preferred Embark on a career where your technical skills make a tangible impact!
