Human Resources Generalist needed for an Insurance Agency located in San Ramon, CA – Hybrid!

A thriving insurance brokerage is growing its team and looking to add an experienced Insurance Accountant / HR Generalist to support both accounting and human resources operations. Position Details:

• Schedule : Monday – Friday | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Employment Type : Direct Hire
• Location : San Ramon, CA
• Work Schedule : Hybrid (3 days in-office / 2 days remote)
• Compensation : $85,000 – $120,000 DOE
• Benefits : Comprehensive benefits package offered

Job Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

• Maintain accurate payroll and timesheet records
• Update employee handbook in accordance with company policies and employment laws
• Oversee employee onboarding, orientation, and termination processes
• Ensure compliance with legal regulations and HR recordkeeping requirements
• Coordinate employee benefits open enrollment, safety training, anti-harassment training, and additional HR initiatives
• Collaborate with hiring managers and recruiters regarding staffing needs
• Report directly to the President and CFO
• Work closely with the Office Manager, agency bookkeeper, account managers, and external CPA/accounting teams
• Premium collections and payment processing
• Prepare journal entries, P&L statements, and balance sheets
• Scan checks and download carrier statements
• Track, reconcile, and manage payments and carrier downloads
• Reconcile agency commissions on direct-billed accounts
• Add and maintain agency direct billing accounts

Requirements:

• Minimum 3-5 recent years of accounting/bookkeeping experience within an insurance agency environment
• Independent insurance agency experience required
• EPIC experience strongly preferred
• Experience handling agency bill and direct bill accounting functions
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong organizational, communication, and phone skills
• Ability to multitask and work collaboratively in a team environment
• HR administration or HR Generalist experience is highly preferred
