Duties Description Under the direction of a higher-level Public Safety Program Specialist within the Evidence-Based Training and Innovation (EBTI) section of the Law Enforcement Strategic Assistance Unit (LESAU), the Public Safety Program Specialist 1 SG-18 will assist with the facilitation, coordination, delivery, development, documentation, and implementation fidelity of statewide training and technical assistance in support of the Gun Involved Violence Elimination initiative (GIVE), the Statewide Targeted Reductions in Intimate Partner Violence initiative (STRIVE), and all other LESAU programming supporting statewide evidence-based policing efforts. Description Duties Description Under the direction of a higher-level Public Safety Program Specialist within the Evidence-Based Training and Innovation (EBTI) section of the Law Enforcement Strategic Assistance Unit (LESAU), the Public Safety Program Specialist 1 SG-18 will assist with the facilitation, coordination, delivery, development, documentation, and implementation fidelity of statewide training and technical assistance in support of the Gun Involved Violence Elimination initiative (GIVE), the Statewide Targeted Reductions in Intimate Partner Violence initiative (STRIVE), and all other LESAU programming supporting statewide evidence-based policing efforts. Duties will include but are not limited to Facilitate and support the delivery of training programs, workshops, meetings, and technical assistance sessions for law enforcement, prosecution, probation, victim service, and other partner agencies participating in GIVE, STRIVE, and statewide evidence-based policing training. Assist with course preparation, session facilitation, participant activities, instructor support, documentation of questions or follow-up needs, and training closeout activities. Coordinate training logistics, including registration, participant communication, training announcements, course materials, attendance records, venue coordination, virtual platform support, and post-training follow-up. Prepare and disseminate training announcements, registration information, participant instructions, instructional materials, and follow-up communications. Assemble, organize, and maintain instructional materials, facilitator resources, handouts, presentations, training manuals, and other program materials. Assist with the development, revision, and updating of training curricula, presentations, facilitator guides, instructional materials, and best practice recommendations. Support the implementation of training and technical assistance activities by tracking requests, preparing materials, documenting follow-up items, and coordinating communication between DCJS staff and local partners. Assist with preparing summaries, training reports, participant feedback summaries, presentation materials, and other documents needed to support GIVE, STRIVE, and statewide evidence-based policing training. Maintain records and web-based systems related to assigned training programs, participant information, course materials, and program documentation. Assist with stakeholder meetings, advisory panels, workgroups, and other coordinated activities involving DCJS staff, local agencies, and partner organizations. Assist with training proposals, cost documents, letters of agreement, and other administrative materials connected to state and federally funded training activities. Inform program supervision of training needs, operational issues, participant feedback, and opportunities to improve training delivery and technical assistance. Handle special assignments and projects as assigned by a supervisor. Approximately 40% travel is required. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Public Safety Program Specialist Trainee 1: Non-competitive: four years of qualifying experience* as a law enforcement officer, law enforcement trainer, or public safety program administrator in a local, state, or federal agency**. Public Safety Program Specialist Trainee 2: Non-competitive: successful completion of 52 weeks as a Public Safety Program Specialist Trainee 1; or five years of qualifying experience* as a law enforcement officer, law enforcement trainer, or public safety program administrator in a local, state, or federal agency**. Public Safety Program Specialist 1, SG-18: Non-competitive: successful completion of 52 weeks as a Public Safety Program Specialist Trainee 2; or six years of qualifying experience* as a law enforcement officer, law enforcement trainer, or public safety program administrator in a local, state, or federal agency**. Six (6) years of qualifying experience either as a law enforcement officer, law enforcement trainer, or public safety program administrator in a local, state, or federal agency; OR in the research, development, and implementation of training programs specific to one or more of the following areas: Law Enforcement, Fire Service, Domestic Preparedness, Emergency/Disaster Management, Emergency Medical Service, Safety, Health and Environmental Management or a closely related discipline. All qualifying experience must have been gained after basic/recruit training. Time served for basic/recruit training does not count toward the qualifying experience. Substitution: an associate degree or 60 college credit hours may substitute for two years of general experience; a bachelor’s degree may substitute for four years of general experience. Additional Comments Some positions may require travel to locations not serviced by public transportation. Approximately 40% travel is required.
