Information Technology Specialist 2 (Programming)

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To Duties Description Review business and technical requirements to identify test conditions. Develop detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts. Design, build, and maintain automated test frameworks and reusable test scripts. Ensure automation integrates with CI/CD pipelines for continuous testing. Execute automated test suites across different environments. Perform functional, regression, smoke, performance testing. Execute manual tests when automation is not feasible or for exploratory testing. Identify, document, and track defects in qTest. Provide clear reproduction steps, logs, and screenshots. Collaborate with developers and business users to resolve defects. Validate data integrity and perform backend testing using SQL or APIs. Ensure compliance with NYSIF standards, accessibility guidelines, and security requirements. For Appointment Via NY HELPS Minimum Qualifications NYSIF employee with one year of permanent, competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 1; OR Bachelor’s or higher-level degree including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science; OR Bachelor’s or higher-level degree in any field AND one year of experience in information technology; OR 60 semester credit hours including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science AND one year of experience in information technology; OR Two years of experience in information technology. Note: Certain math and business courses although taken as part of a computer science curriculum, are not counted towards the 15 semester credit hours. Transfer: Current New York State employee with one year of permanent competitive class service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 or Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law. Appointments via transfer must not result in a second, consecutive transfer with an advancement of more than two S-grades. Eligible titles include, but are not limited to: Administrative Specialist 1; Contract Management Specialist 2; Human Resources Specialist 1 Reinstatement: Candidates who have previously held the Information Technology Specialist 2 (Programming) title, or a transferable title, may be eligible for consideration for reinstatement.
