Duties Description This position is in the Bureau of External Affairs and reports to the Assistant Deputy Director within the New York State Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence. Under the general supervision of the Assistant Deputy Director for External Affairs, the incumbent is responsible for overseeing all agency training and curriculum development efforts and the supervision and skill development of agency training staff. The Gender Violence Prevention Specialist 2 will also oversee the coordination and development of training for new audiences. The Gender Violence Prevention Specialist 2 will also oversee the coordination and development of training for new audiences. Duties Include, But May Not Be Limited To Oversee and assist with the development of training curriculum and materials, including the review of curriculum and materials. Develop training curricula in consultation with program staff for consistent messaging and talking points. Ensure consistent and updated agency messaging in all OPDV trainings and presentations including developing and maintaining consistency in statistics, slides, quotes, etc. used in trainings. Administration of training contracts including oversight of reporting and collaborating with Finance on vouchering. Oversee and manage the Forensic Custody Evaluator Training project and contract with state coalition and other contracted experts. Research and maintain current concepts and work in gender-based violence. Develop and coordinate ongoing professional development of trainers. Maintain an evaluative mechanism to regularly assess curriculum and trainers’ competence, including data collection/metrics. Collaborate with the Unit Director on the development of trainings for new audiences. Collaborate with Communications team and other Units and Bureaus to conduct outreach to identify new audiences and training topics, and to market existing trainings. Collaborate with Executive Staff on interdisciplinary training projects. Coordinate with supervisors, Unit and Bureau Director on cross project collaboration activities including agency working groups. Recruit and coordinate training programs with other agencies. Conduct outreach programs and presentations including coordinating project activities related to presentation delivery. Explore, implement, and teach innovative training platforms. Provide technical assistance to other government agencies and community organizations including assessing needs, collecting and maintaining data, and developing materials and job aids. Assist in the review of domestic violence related educational, training, informational materials, and policies across units. Prepare written reports, facilitate data collection, and evaluate as required by the agency and/or funding sources. Develop and maintain training catalogue and calendar (assuring all trainings are assigned) in collaboration with training staff. Oversee training registration, attendance and the distribution of training materials, evaluations, and certificates. Perform the full range of supervisory responsibilities for training staff. Perform other duties and special projects as required. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Seven years of experience* in the provision of domestic or gender-based violence prevention services; the provision of human services, training and education, government, social justice or gender-based advocacy services; or public policy research and development. OR One year of permanent service as a Gender Violence Prevention Specialist 1. Substitutions: A bachelor’s degree may substitute for four years of specialized experience; a master’s degree may substitute for five years of specialized experience; or a Ph.D. may substitute for six years of specialized experience. NOTE: IN ORDER TO AWARD THE PROPER CREDIT FOR WORK EXPERIENCE, RESUMES MUST INCLUDE MONTH AND YEAR FOR START AND END DATES. IF ANY OF THIS EXPERIENCE IS LESS THAN FULL TIME YOU MUST INDICATE THE AVERAGE NUMBER OF HOURS WORKED PER WEEK. Additional Comments Travel may be required (approximately 30%), including during evening and weekends, depending on mission and assignment. Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver’s License issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicle is required or otherwise demonstrate the capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job.
