Assistant Store Manager The Assistant Store Manager contributes to the overall financial performance of the store, including product merchandising and stocking, expense control, and achievement of sales and profitability goals. The role manages front‑end operations to ensure purchases are accurately recorded and front‑end employees are trained in shrink control and customer service. The Assistant works closely with the Store Manager to execute the Annual Operating Plan and associated programs to deliver the desired sales and profit results. The Assistant recruits, trains, and develops front‑end employees and other staff as assigned, ensures adherence to loss prevention procedures, and performs Manager‑on‑duty functions and other duties as required. The starting rate is $22.67/hr. Flexible schedule required, Monday through Sunday between 5:00am and 7:00pm. Freight handling is a plus. Responsibilities Supervise and coach employees to provide efficient and friendly service at registers and throughout the store. Address personnel and performance issues, including coaching, verbal and written warnings. Consult with Store Manager and HR on progressive discipline and termination when needed. Ensure compliance with personnel policies and procedures. Understand the mechanics of the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and translate operations into the monthly Profit and Loss statement. Assist in the AOP budgeting process, achieve budgeted sales and profits, and manage shrinkage with emphasis on front‑end processes. Participate in the annual inventory process, including preparation and execution of inventory guidelines. Train front‑end employees and others on required programs. Assist the Store Manager in ensuring staff compliance with company policies, procedures, SOPs, and facility maintenance for a safe environment. Interview, hire, orient, and train assigned employee groups. Provide floor employees with day‑to‑day direction, schedules, and store goals, including sales and shrinkage targets. Plan in‑store demonstrations, prepare and set up demo carts/displays, distribute product samples, and utilize suggestive selling techniques. Oversee receiving of product, return of damaged or expired product, and timely restocking of shelves. Maintain merchandising programs, promotional ends, signage, and other company or market‑specific programs. Communicate with employees about merchandising and marketing programs, oversee execution, and report on follow‑up. Analyze monthly store reports to evaluate controllable expenses and overall store performance. Address variances from company standards with action plans, partnering with the Store Manager as needed. Ensure proper scheduling of employees to meet business objectives. Ensure all employees understand and can execute emergency operating procedures. Accept special assignments as directed by the Store Manager. Adhere to, communicate, and enforce all company policies, processes, and procedures. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required. Supervision Sales Associates, Sales Department Lead(s) Relationships Internal: Interaction with employees at all levels of responsibility throughout the company. External: Interaction with all customers and service providers. Work Environment Work is performed in a retail store setting open to the public, with exposure to outside weather conditions which may be inclement. The noise level is usually moderate. Operations typically occur on a level surface, but the use of ladders or elevated surfaces may be required. Temperature ranges from -10°F to 85°F. The role requires physical interaction with customers. Minimum Qualifications Minimum of four (4) years of experience in a retail work environment.
