Senior Highway Design Engineer

We are working with a growing engineering consultancy seeking a Senior Roadway Engineer to join their Transportation Design team. This is an exciting opportunity to take on an Engineer of Record role, lead impactful roadway projects, and play a key part in the growth of a developing office. This position is ideal for someone with strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and a passion for delivering high-quality transportation solutions across state and municipal projects. The Role You will lead the design and delivery of roadway projects, manage project scope and budgets, and collaborate closely with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders. You’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to strategic growth initiatives and mentor junior engineers. Key Responsibilities Prepare roadway design plans in accordance with state and national standards Serve as Engineer of Record on projects, taking ownership of technical delivery Lead or support moderate to large-scale transportation projects Manage smaller projects independently, including scope, schedule, and budget Develop innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges Coordinate with clients, subconsultants, and internal teams Prepare technical reports, memos, and project documentation Mentor and support junior engineers Contribute to business development efforts, including proposals and client engagement Support strategic growth initiatives and office development Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering Professional Engineer (PE) license 8+ years of roadway/transportation engineering experience Experience working on state DOT and municipal projects Strong knowledge of roadway design standards and guidelines Proficiency in OpenRoads Designer (or similar design tools) Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Ability to lead projects and work both independently and within a team What’s on Offer Competitive salary and benefits package Opportunity to step into an Engineer of Record role Clear path for career progression and leadership Involvement in impactful transportation infrastructure projects Collaborative and growth-focused environment #J-18808-Ljbffr Metric Geo
