Respiratory Care Practitioner RRT

Under general supervision, provides respiratory therapy services in a timely and efficient manner for all appropriate age levels. Administers therapeutic treatments as prescribed by attending medical staff. Records treatment information and patient responses in computerized medical records. Acts as a resource person to medical staff. Performs invasive and noninvasive diagnostic testing and monitoring of patients. Provides age-appropriate care to patients. Ensures that respiratory equipment is cleaned and maintained. Maintains necessary respiratory therapy records. Acts as part of the quick response team for cardiac and respiratory arrests. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge of procedures and techniques of Respiratory Therapy and the operation and repair of respiratory equipment is required. Clinical decision-making skills appropriate to patient care related to the pulmonary and cardiac systems and the age of the patient are essential. Ability to interpret relevant information to identify patient needs is necessary. Ability to work under stress is important. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain healthy working relationships with coworkers and staff are crucial. Some computer skills are needed. Graduation from an approved Respiratory Care Program is required.

Experience: Minimum of two years of respiratory care experience in a critical care setting preferred

License: Licensed by the appropriate state board as a Respiratory Care Practitioner

Certifications: Registered by the National Board of Respiratory Care

Must-Have: Current Basic Life Support certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support within three months of hire; Registered Respiratory Therapist credential within 12 months of hire
