Utility Technician

Basic Function The Utility Tech is responsible for efficiently supporting branch operations through mail delivery, facility upkeep, minor maintenance, preventive maintenance, and general utility tasks. This role ensures efficient workflows, safe and clean environments, and professional standards across all credit union departments. Description Position Title: Utility Tech Reports To: Facilities Manager Basic Function The Utility Tech is responsible for efficiently supporting branch operations through mail delivery, facility upkeep, minor maintenance, preventive maintenance, and general utility tasks. This role ensures efficient workflows, safe and clean environments, and professional standards across all credit union departments. Responsibilities Mail & Delivery Services Make daily runs between credit union offices and special runs as needed to deliver checks, mail, supplies, records, and other items. Obtain mail from the post office daily, sort and distribute incoming/outgoing mail, and process outgoing mail with proper postage. Maintain postal equipment and notify supervisor when additional postage is required. Deliver marketing supplies, equipment, and materials for events or meetings. Ensures delivery schedules are adhered to for efficient departmental workflow. Assist in all other mailroom duties. Facility & Grounds Maintenance Perform general maintenance and minor repairs (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, heating/cooling systems). Conduct preventive maintenance for branches at a minimum of inspecting & replacing HVAC filters as needed, replacing batteries, and picking up trash. Conduct routine inspections of branch facilities, common areas, and equipment to ensure safety and compliance. Monitor lighting, parking lots, and grounds; report deficiencies or repair needs to supervisor. Assist with setup of tables, chairs, tents, and other equipment for special events, meetings, or training sessions. Support facility renovations by moving furniture, disposing of debris, and ensuring work sites are clean and safe. Keeps Maintenance Department storage areas orderly. Vehicle Maintenance Maintain cleanliness and safety of credit union vehicles, including scheduling service, checking fluid levels, tires, and inspections. Ensure vehicles are washed and cleaned regularly. Inventory & Storage Maintain file rooms and storage areas in an organized manner. Process requests for storage retrieval or pick-up. Assist with inventory control for office supplies and equipment. Support Assist other maintenance staff to ensure projects are completed on time and meet safety requirements. Provide backup support on any downtime as needed. Support other departments with general utility tasks. Compliance Adhere to all Red River Employees Federal Credit Union policies and procedures. Complete the required log sheets for deliveries and inspections. Perform other duties as assigned. Safely drive RRCU vehicles or your own vehicle in connection with RRCU activities. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver’s license with a good driving record. Ability to operate motor vehicles, hand tools, and basic office equipment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Good communication skills Must maintain a neat and professional appearance. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Basic knowledge of maintenance and safety procedures preferred. Frequent travel between branch locations. Professional appearance and courteous interaction with all staff levels. Ability to lift and transport items up to 100 pounds, with frequent bending, standing, and exposure to indoor/outdoor environments.
