Mechanical Design Engineer

This role provides hands-on experience working alongside senior engineers while contributing to the design, analysis, and implementation of sophisticated mechanical systems from concept through construction.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop HVAC and mechanical building systems for new construction and renovation projects.
• Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and construction documents that comply with client requirements, industry standards, and applicable codes.
• Perform system evaluations, load calculations, energy analysis, and cost comparisons to support design decisions.
• Assist with building energy modeling and system performance simulations.
• Support construction administration activities, including reviewing installations and verifying compliance with design intent.
• Conduct field surveys, site investigations, and prepare site visit reports.
• Develop project specifications and Statements of Special Inspections for assigned projects.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project teams throughout all phases of design and construction.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Working knowledge of HVAC systems and mechanical building infrastructure.
• Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prepare technical documentation and construction drawings.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and engineering analysis software.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary project team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer through internships, co-ops, or full-time employment.
• Experience with energy modeling or building performance simulation software.
• Exposure to healthcare, laboratory, research, higher education, corporate, or technology facility projects.
• Familiarity with construction administration processes and field observations.
