Senior Business Intelligence Engineer

Aureon Consulting is partnering with a well-established, forward-moving organization in the Des Moines area to hire a Senior BI Engineer. Why This Role Stands Out Visible work that directly supports business decision-making Collaborative, down-to-earth team with strong ownership and accountability Opportunity to influence reporting standards and direction Stable organization investing in modern BI tools and capabilities Clear growth path into increased technical and leadership responsibility What You’ll Be Doing Design and build Power BI dashboards, reports, and datasets used across the organization Create scalable data models that support reliable and intuitive reporting Develop advanced DAX calculations and metrics Transform and prepare data using Power Query (M) from multiple sources Build and maintain SSRS reports as needed Partner directly with business stakeholders to understand needs and deliver practical solutions Support testing efforts and ensure data accuracy across reporting Troubleshoot and resolve issues in production environments Team Impact Help guide development standards and best practices across the BI function Provide mentorship and technical guidance to other developers on the team Contribute to design and code reviews to ensure quality and consistency Partner with leadership to align reporting priorities and approach Act as a go-to resource for complex reporting and data challenges Encourage knowledge sharing and continuous improvement across the team What You Bring 8+ years of experience with SQL and reporting development (SSRS) Strong hands-on experience with Power BI, including dashboards and data modeling Experience within the Microsoft data stack (SQL Server, SSIS, Azure DevOps, Visual Studio) Ability to translate business needs into practical, user-friendly solutions Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Comfortable working with both technical teams and business partners Nice to Have: Exposure to Microsoft Fabric or modern data platforms Location & Work Setup Primarily onsite with one remote day per week Team-oriented environment with strong in-person collaboration What Success Looks Like You take ownership and follow through on commitments You prioritize clean, scalable, and maintainable solutions You communicate effectively across technical and business audiencesYou are interested in growing your influence, not just executing tasks #J-18808-Ljbffr
