This is a highly visible leadership role offering direct interaction with executive leadership, ownership, operational stakeholders, lenders, investors, and outside counsel. The successful candidate will lead complex legal projects, oversee a team of legal professionals, manage external legal resources, and provide proactive legal guidance across a diverse real estate portfolio. Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a wide variety of agreements, including:
Purchase and sale agreements Commercial leases Development agreements Construction agreements Property management agreements Financing and loan documents Easements and related real estate contracts Manage relationships with outside counsel and coordinate specialized legal services as needed. Provide legal guidance regarding title matters, surveys, due diligence, entitlements, and regulatory issues. Oversee litigation and dispute management in partnership with external counsel. Advise executive leadership on legal risks, business initiatives, and strategic transactions. Lead and mentor a team of legal support professionals. Establish efficient legal processes, reporting structures, and communication protocols. Ensure legal matters move forward efficiently while maintaining strong risk management practices. Required Qualifications Critical Requirements Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school. Active Texas Bar License in good standing. Minimum 10 years of legal experience within a law firm, corporate legal department, or combination thereof. Significant experience negotiating and managing complex transactional real estate matters. Demonstrated expertise in:
Acquisitions and dispositions Commercial leasing Real estate finance Development projects Contract negotiation and management Corporate governance matters Experience interacting directly with executive leadership, ownership groups, lenders, investors, and key stakeholders. Proven ability to lead legal projects with minimal supervision. Industry Experience Requirement: Real estate industry experience is required. Qualified candidates must come from one or more of the following environments: Commercial Real Estate Multifamily / Residential Real Estate Real Estate Investment & Asset Management Real Estate Development Property Management Real Estate Construction Candidates without meaningful transactional real estate experience will not be considered. Preferred Qualifications Experience across multiple real estate asset classes. Exposure to employment law matters. Experience supervising paralegals or legal support staff. Strong background managing outside counsel relationships. Experience supporting organizations with complex real estate holdings and affiliated entities.
