Minimum 6 months Paraprofessional or Special Education experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Seeking qualified paraprofessionals to provide essential support in special education classrooms across a large school district in Independence, MO. This position offers flexible, per diem contract work covering substitute calls, ideal for candidates with experience working with students with behavioral needs, including those requiring toileting assistance and behavior intervention plans (BIPs).

Key Qualifications and Experience:

• Active substitute or paraprofessional certification on DESE (must be current before starting)
• Previous experience in school settings, preferably with students who have behavioral challenges
• Comfort working 1:1 or as a classroom aide in SPED environments
• Ability to complete required fingerprinting specific to the district
• Reliable and adaptable, able to cover shifts on short notice

Location and Schedule:

• Positions available throughout 33 schools, primarily elementary level
• Flexible schedules ranging from 1 to 5 days per week, with daily call-outs available
• Shift times vary by school level:• Middle School: 7:00 AM – 2:30 PM• High School: 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM• Elementary: 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM or 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• Per diem pay with compensation only for hours worked

Responsibilities:

• Support classroom teachers by assisting students with diverse learning and behavioral needs
• Implement behavior plans and assist with toileting when required
• Fill in as needed to maintain a supportive learning environment during staff absences
