Job Details

Our client, a well-established and growing real estate investment and development firm, is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its accounting team. This individual will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close activities, preparing financial reports, and assisting with the accounting functions across a diverse real estate portfolio.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare journal entries and maintain general ledger activity.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
• Perform bank reconciliations and balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation records.
• Assist with preparing monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Record accruals, prepaid expenses, and other recurring accounting transactions.
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as needed.
• Reconcile intercompany transactions and balances.
• Assist with accounting for acquisitions, dispositions, and development projects.
• Prepare documentation for annual audits and tax reporting.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and strengthen internal controls.
• Perform additional accounting and finance projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 1-4 years of accounting experience
• Real estate, construction, or property accounting experience preferred
• Strong understanding of GAAP
• Excellent Excel skills
• Experience with ERP/accounting software such as Yardi, MRI, Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Oracle, or SAP preferred
• Strong analytical and organizational abilities
• Excellent communication skills
• CPA or CPA-track is a plus
