Engineering Major Projects Supervisor

We Energies, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking an Engineering Major Projects Supervisor. This position can be located at any of our WEC Energy Group power generation sites, renewable sites, or service centers in Wisconsin and Illinois. This position offers flexibility for a hybrid work arrangement (remote/on‑site). This position will support projects and programs that are part of WEC Energy Group’s $13.2 billion electric generation capital investment plan, which will power economic growth and provide energy reliability in the state of Wisconsin. An additional 1,800 megawatts (MW) of electric demand is expected in the state between 2025 and 2029 — an increased electric load of approximately 20%. Job Summary The principal responsibilities of an Engineering Major Projects Supervisor include engineering and construction management of large capital improvements, ensuring successful start‑up and commissioning of projects, record keeping and ongoing system monitoring to support operations, benchmarking engineering and construction services, and resource allocation. Responsibilities also involve project scoping, permitting, licensing, construction cost estimating, engineering design, construction management, job close‑out, writing and enforcing contracts, and ensuring on‑time and on‑budget project completions. The role monitors and evaluates in‑house and external engineering and construction workforces. Job Responsibilities Identify and thoroughly evaluate project design and construction issues and develop innovative solutions. Develop and implement regulatory strategies for environmental and PSCW permits related to construction and operation of the equipment. Develop and implement construction and design practices to reduce costs and improve efficiency. Communicate effectively with senior management about project progress. Interact and negotiate with industry experts, major equipment manufacturers, contractors, regulatory agencies and other officials on key issues. Negotiate contracts for major construction work and equipment supply. Lead a cross‑functional team of internal and external resources in project execution. Ensure all work is performed safely, is of high quality, follows appropriate procedures and construction standards, and is completed on schedule, within budget and according to the engineered design. Ensure major contractors and suppliers meet obligations under contract terms, conditions and guarantees. Monitor and manage key project metrics and cost controls to achieve construction, operational and budgetary goals. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. Valid driver’s license and meet the company’s requirements for driving. 5+ years relevant engineering experience.
