Job Summary:
A Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse (RN) is needed in Madison, Wisconsin. This position involves providing specialized care for critically ill newborns and infants in a Level IV NICU, supporting high-acuity patients with a range of complex diagnoses. The role requires delivering comprehensive, family-centered care across the continuum from admission to discharge in a pediatric medical and surgical center.

Job Details:

• Location: Madison, WI
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts, from 7:00 am to 7:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with 2-3 weekends every 6-week scheduling period
• Schedule: Day/Evening, 12 hours per shift, minimum 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications:
  • NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) experience for at least 2 years in total, with a minimum of 1 year specific to Level IV NICU
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications (AHA only)
  • Active Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license or a valid compact license
• Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with post-operative patients, g-tubes, tracheostomy and ventilator management, and various modes of invasive/noninvasive ventilation
  • Experience with charting systems (Epic preferred) and inpatient acute care
  • Ability to handle high-acuity neonatal patients with complex medical needs
• Additional Information:
  • Must be able to float to all units caring for patients less than 12 months of age, including pediatric intensive care units
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care experience in this specialty required
  • Pass/Fail testing in cardiac interpretation (adult and pediatric exams) required with strict passing criteria
  • Traveler will have two attempts to pass the exam; failure after three attempts results in assignment cancellation
  • The environment includes advanced ventilators, whole-body cooling systems, and telemetry monitoring, supporting care for the most critically ill neonates.
