Job Summary
A Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) - Acute Medicine and Thoracic units, is sought for a healthcare facility in Madison, Wisconsin. This position involves providing specialized nursing care to adult patients with complex medical needs, including those requiring ventilator and transplant support, within a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The role offers opportunities to work with a diverse team of healthcare professionals in a Magnet-designated facility known for excellence in patient care and teaching.

Job Details

• Schedule: Evening and Night shifts, 12-hour shifts from 7:00 pm to 7:30 am, Monday through Friday, with every other weekend and some holidays required.
• Required Qualifications: - Wisconsin registered nurse (RN) license or compact RN license - Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in telemetry oncology, cardiac, and progressive care units - Experience with vent management and transplant patients - Proficiency in accessing/managing ports, arterial lines, blood product administration, care of ventilated patients, central lines, chest tubes, managing dysrhythmias, and related skills - Competency in EMR systems, specifically Epic - ACLS and BLS certifications.
• Preferred Qualifications: - Trauma Level I or II experience - Experience in an academic level I or II trauma center or similar large hospital setting - Additional experience in telemetry, oncology, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown units.
• Additional Information: - Must pass a telemetry interpretation exam with strict passing criteria prior to start, with two attempts allowed. - The candidate must have at least two years of recent inpatient RN experience in a relevant specialty. - Travel experience is required. - The unit provides interdisciplinary support, including IV teams, respiratory services, and social services. - The facility is located at 600 Highland Ave, Madison, WI; parking permit required through UW Transportation.
