About the Role
The Company is seeking a Senior Executive Director for University Development within its Alumni Affairs and Development (AA&D) division. The successful candidate will be a seasoned fundraising leader with a strategic mindset, responsible for overseeing a comprehensive central University fundraising unit. This role involves managing various fundraising areas, including corporate and foundation relations, international philanthropy, and principal gifts. The Senior Executive Director will be expected to develop and implement proactive fundraising strategies to advance University priorities, ensuring excellent donor relationship management. Key responsibilities include goal setting, program evaluation, and fostering a culture of boldness, creativity, and accountability in fundraising. The role also requires close collaboration with senior academic and development leaders, as well as with partners in Advancement Communications and Donor Relations. Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 15 years' of fundraising and management experience, preferably in higher education. The role demands a strong track record in managing relationships with donors and successfully soliciting seven- and eight-figure gifts. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to lead a high-performing team, conceptualize and implement sophisticated fundraising strategies, and work effectively across a complex organization. Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels. The Senior Executive Director will also be responsible for talent management, including recruiting, hiring, and professional development of staff, and must be adept at using data-informed approaches to grow fundraising.
