Job Overview

We are in search of a committed Registered Nurse to join our Critical Care Float Pool at the New Brunswick campus. Our organization is recognized as a leading academic medical center and serves as the primary teaching hospital within our health system. As one of only three Level 1 trauma centers in the state, we are dedicated to delivering exceptional clinical quality and patient care. Our team is focused on providing safe, high-quality services to all patients. Additionally, our facility has earned the Magnet designation six times, highlighting our commitment to nursing excellence. Nurses in our float pool play a crucial role, delivering outstanding care across diverse patient populations, including those in trauma, neurology, cardiology, orthopedics, and oncology. They exhibit expertise, adaptability, resilience, effective communication, and teamwork. To enhance our team, we are expanding our float pool to ensure our units are supported by skilled nursing professionals.

Qualifications

Required:

• Associate's Degree in Nursing or a Nursing Diploma
• A minimum of 1 year of experience as a Critical Care RN
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities
• Proficient in computer skills

Preferred:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or completion within 5 years of hire
• 2-3 years of experience as a Critical Care RN
• CCRN certification

Certifications and Licenses

• Current New Jersey Registered Nurse License
• BLS and ACLS certifications
• NIHSS certification

Scheduling Requirements

• Night Shift, 36 hours per week, from 7 PM to 7:30 AM
• Monday to Friday, with some weekends and holiday rotations
• Part-time position

Essential Functions

• The Registered Nurse delivers nursing care within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards, ensuring adherence to ethical practices as outlined by the ANA code of ethics.
• Ensures safety in practice, incorporating evidence-based principles while recognizing personal knowledge and experience levels, and takes responsibility for enhancing the knowledge of self and the patient care team through effective communication and available resources.
• Responsible for reporting safety concerns, including hazardous conditions and medical errors.
• Maintains knowledge of the patient demographics served.
• Supervises and directs task delegation to appropriate team members, collaborating with other healthcare providers.
• Consistently sets and evaluates priorities through appropriate interventions aimed at measurable outcomes for improvement.
• Acts as an individual practitioner and interdisciplinary team manager, utilizing the nursing process to integrate all aspects of care and tailoring the care plan to meet specific patient needs.
