Project Manager - Water/Wastewater

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects from planning and design through construction, commissioning and closeout. This role will be responsible for managing project scope, programme, budget, quality, health and safety, and environmental performance while ensuring that all works meet contractual, regulatory and client requirements. Projects may include treatment facilities, pumping stations, pipelines, reservoirs, drainage systems and associated civil, mechanical and electrical infrastructure.


Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining detailed project plans, budgets, risk registers and procurement strategies; coordinating design consultants, contractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders; and monitoring progress against agreed milestones. You will oversee contract administration, change control, forecasting, payment certification and commercial reporting, identifying potential issues early and implementing effective corrective actions. The role will also involve leading project meetings, preparing clear reports for senior stakeholders, supporting tender and bid activities, and ensuring that construction, testing and commissioning activities are completed safely and efficiently. You will promote a collaborative project culture and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulators, local communities and delivery partners.


Applicants should have substantial project management experience within the water, wastewater, utilities, civil engineering or related infrastructure sectors, with a proven record of delivering complex projects successfully. A relevant degree or professional qualification in civil engineering, construction management, project management or a related discipline is desirable, along with recognised project or contract management training. Strong knowledge of construction methods, health and safety legislation, environmental standards, quality systems and forms of contract is expected. You will need excellent communication, negotiation, leadership and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to manage competing priorities and make sound commercial and operational decisions. Experience with project controls, risk management, cost reporting and stakeholder engagement will be highly valued.
