Water/Wastewater Senior Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced Water/Wastewater Senior Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex water, wastewater and infrastructure projects from inception through to completion. This role will suit a technically capable and commercially aware professional who can manage multidisciplinary teams, build trusted client relationships and deliver projects safely, on time and within budget. You will take ownership of project outcomes while contributing to a collaborative environment focused on quality, innovation and sustainable solutions.


Key responsibilities will include managing project scope, programmes, budgets, resources, risks and change control; coordinating design, construction and commissioning activities; and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, technical standards, environmental requirements and health and safety procedures. You will prepare and review project documentation, monitor performance against agreed objectives, and provide clear reports and updates to clients, senior stakeholders and project governance groups. The role will also involve leading procurement and contractor engagement, supporting bids and proposals, identifying opportunities for improved delivery, and resolving technical or commercial issues as they arise. You will mentor project managers and technical staff, promote consistent project management practices and help develop long-term client and supply-chain relationships.


Applicants should have substantial experience delivering water or wastewater projects, ideally within a consultancy, contractor, utility or related infrastructure environment. A strong understanding of water and wastewater treatment, networks, utilities or civil engineering projects is essential, along with proven experience managing multidisciplinary teams and complex stakeholder requirements. You will need excellent communication, negotiation and decision-making skills, as well as sound commercial awareness and the ability to manage competing priorities. Experience with contract administration, financial forecasting, risk management and project controls is required. A relevant degree or professional qualification in civil engineering, environmental engineering, water engineering, project management or a related discipline is preferred. Professional membership or chartership, together with a recognised project management qualification, would be advantageous.
