Microbiology Technician II

This position works out of our Columbus, Ohio plant location in the Abbott Nutrition Division. What You’ll Do Apply high quality scientific techniques in the microbiological analysis of raw ingredients, in-process production samples, finished product testing and environmental monitoring, to ensure that all products manufactured are fit for use. Work with fellow microbiologists, maintaining a high degree of motivation, attention to detail and clear communication within a small team. Prioritize tasks to complete them efficiently and accurately, and communicate clearly with team members. Perform product testing, environmental testing and raw ingredient testing. Maintain documentation, contribute to project work and troubleshoot issues. Prepare media and conduct general lab work, including housekeeping. Collaborate and maintain teamwork across all responsibilities. Shift Sunday – Wednesday, 8:00 p.m. – 6:30 a.m. Wednesday – Saturday, 8:00 p.m. – 6:30 a.m. Required Qualifications High School Diploma plus 4 years of experience in a food or pharmaceutical manufacturing laboratory environment; OR High School Diploma plus 1 year of appropriate college lab studies and 1 year of college mathematics, plus 2 years of laboratory experience. Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and requirements for infant formula and nutritionals. Experience with Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). Proficiency in aseptic technique. Proficiency in Gram staining. Preferred Qualifications Science‑related Bachelor’s Degree with at least 1 year of appropriate college lab studies and 1 year of college mathematics. Experience working in a food, pharmaceutical, medical device plant or a hospital/medical laboratory.
