Child Protective Investigator Supervisor – SES Requisition No: 878036 Agency: Children and Families Working Title: CHILD PROTECTIVE INVESTIGATOR SUPV-SES - 60075280 Child Protective Investigator Supervisor – SES, Department of Children and Families, New Port Richey, FL, Pasco County. Current employees will be compensated in accordance with the DCF salary policy. Responsibilities Supervise, plan and direct workloads, workflows, deadlines, work objectives, and time utilization of subordinate staff in the delivery of protecting children, working with families, and conducting investigations of alleged abused, abandoned, neglected or exploited children. Develop performance standards and job duty expectations with investigators; review standards and plan for continuous improvement. Communicate investigators’ compliance with expectations and provide coaching on performance. Evaluate employees against established standards and take corrective actions as needed. Promote career development by ensuring training and leading cross‑training efforts on investigative skills. Review casework, assessments, and safety plans with investigators and provide consultation to ensure quality and documentation. Use management tools in an information system to monitor open cases and manage workflow to meet timelines and prevent backlog. Ensure CPI operations comply with legislative authority and required rules, regulations. Identify improvements and implement adjustments for program effectiveness and efficiency. Facilitate hiring, promotion, demotion, discipline, or dismissal of employees. Collect, analyze, and report data on child protective investigations. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with community providers, Children’s Legal Services, law enforcement, medical personnel, schools, and other resources. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (degree must be conferred at the time of application). Bachelor’s or master’s degree in social work or related field preferred. At least 2 years in child welfare, preferably in child abuse investigations. Current/Active Child Welfare Certification credentials from the Florida Certification Board. Trained and practicing Florida's Safety Practice method. Valid driver license and possession of a private vehicle for work; proof of registration and insurance required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of theories and practice in child protection. Knowledge of professional ethics and counseling practice. Knowledge of family‑centered interview and counseling techniques. Knowledge of interview and observation techniques. Ability to recognize indicators of abuse and neglect. Ability to conduct risk and safety investigations. Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments. Ability to understand and apply relevant laws, rules, regulations, policies. Ability to actively listen and communicate effectively. Ability to maintain well‑executed case files. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to utilize computer systems. Ability to write accurate investigative reports. Additional Information Requires night, weekend, and holiday work. Designated as an essential position; may work during emergencies or natural disasters and beyond normal hours. May be exposed to possible hazardous conditions in the field.
