GENERAL MANAGER

West Central Minnesota | Confidential Search | Full-Time, On-Site

$165,000 - $235,000 total first-year compensation, plus co-investment opportunity

A private equity-backed essential-services platform is hiring a General Manager to lead and scale its Minnesota business - a profitable, well-established operation with the capital, mandate, and acquisition pipeline to more than double.

THE ROLE

This is a full P&L leadership seat, not a caretaker role. You will inherit a healthy business with a loyal team and customer base, and you will be expected to modernize it, professionalize the operating cadence, and scale it toward roughly double its current revenue over the next few years.

The founding operator is moving toward retirement and will remain involved through a structured transition, so you will have real support while you earn the team's trust. After that, the business is yours to run. You will report to platform leadership and work alongside a centralized team handling finance, HR, marketing, technology, and M&A, so your focus stays on the market and the people, not the back office.

WHAT YOU WILL OWN

- Full P&L. Revenue, EBITDA, and margin for the Minnesota business.

- The leadership team. A functional management group across service, sales, office, and warehouse, plus a field organization of roughly 20 to 25 people that grows as you scale.

- Growth. Organic execution plus the integration of acquisitions as the regional pipeline activates.

- Operating discipline. KPI cadence, reporting rhythm, and accountability structures that support growth rather than slow it down.

- Culture. Carrying a respected local legacy forward while building the systems a scaling platform requires.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE IN YOUR FIRST 12 MONTHS

Months 1-3: You have learned the team, customers, routes, and systems. You have earned trust before changing anything, and you hold operational ownership by roughly day 90.

Months 4-6: KPI cadence is live. Sales and service teams are accountable to targets. Revenue is trending toward the next run-rate milestone.

Months 7-12: You are operating on the business through your leadership team. Margin is expanding, at least one acquisition is integrated or integration-ready, and your managers are measurably stronger than when you arrived.

WHAT YOU BRING

Required:

- Full P&L ownership at the branch, division, region, or business-unit level.

- Experience leading through a team of managers, not just individual contributors.

- A track record of double-digit revenue growth you personally drove, with the numbers to back it up.

- Experience managing field or service teams - crews, routes, technicians, or an equivalent operating environment.

- A genuine mentor mentality, with specific examples of leaders you developed and retained.

- A real commitment to living and working in a small-town, rural Minnesota community.

Strongly preferred:

- Background in home services, environmental services, construction services, or another route-based or field-service business. Direct industry experience is a plus, not a requirement.

- Acquisition integration or change-management experience.

- Experience inside a private equity-backed or multi-site platform.

- Success joining a founder-led or family-owned business and earning credibility quickly.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

- Base salary: $130,000 - $185,000, depending on experience

- Annual bonus: $35,000 - $50,000, primarily tied to company performance

- Total cash: $165,000 - $235,000 target first-year compensation

- Equity / co-invest: Co-investment opportunity with a vesting schedule - meaningful ownership upside for an operator who scales the market

- Relocation: Relocation support available, sized to the candidate's situation

- Cost of living: Well below major-metro levels - this package carries materially more purchasing power than comparable urban roles
