Department Details The critical care transport team includes Critical Care Paramedics, Registered Nurses, and Emergency Medical Technicians – basic and advanced. This team provides care and management of patients of all ages and acuity in a mobile environment for interfacility transports. Patient care is determined on patient needs, acuity, assessment, and written/protocol orders under the direction of a medical provider. Our team is dedicated to providing extraordinary care to patients throughout their transport and beyond. Job Summary Lead Paramedics help provide advanced medical care to patients. They must have the complex knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation. Paramedics may need to assist and give direction to additional EMS responders at the scene and/or during transport. In addition to the paramedic responsibilities, the lead paramedic will be the key contact for EMS while on scene. They will assist with monitoring productivity and tracking EMS, and support management in EMS operations, including regulations, licensing, staffing, education, equipment maintenance, finance, and quality assurance. They will also act as a formal resource for EMS staff, assist with patient care in the receiving facility, and handle physical tasks such as lifting, moving, climbing, and balancing. The role may include overtime, backup calls, nights, days, weekends, and holidays. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Paramedic Technology or Paramedicine preferred. Minimum of two years of experience as a paramedic in an ambulance setting. Thorough knowledge of paramedic principles, practices, and techniques, and troubleshooting of equipment such as monitors and defibrillators. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and national registry status at paramedic level. Valid driver’s license with a good driving record. State license required as per state regulations; additional licensures such as Paramedic (PAR) certification, National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) Incident Command System (ICS) 100, 200, and 700, and continued education minutes as mandated by accreditation. Current BLS, PHTLS, or equivalent; advanced certifications such as ITLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP preferred depending on location. Training attendance for required workshops, staff meetings, and continuing education as per policy.
