Community Health Support – Volunteer / Intern / Per Diem Staff

This role supports our Check Your Health Campaign by conducting health screenings, promoting wellness education, and assisting with outreach events. Volunteers, interns, and per diem staff will play a vital role in delivering preventive services for metabolic syndrome, nutrition, and STDs.

Key responsibilities include conducting basic health screenings (blood pressure, BMI, glucose, temperature, etc.), supporting metabolic and nutrition checks and wellness screenings, performing rapid HIV and Hepatitis C testing (if certified/trained), providing education and distributing resources on metabolic syndrome and STD prevention, assisting with setup and breakdown of events and health booths, registering clients and managing intake processes, engaging residents and supporting public participation at community events, distributing flyers, giveaways, and educational materials, and assisting with data collection, surveys, and follow-up coordination.

Who should apply: Public health, pre-med, nursing, or allied health students, retired or licensed healthcare professionals (LPN, RN, MA), community members or career changers passionate about health and service.

Requirements include strong communication skills and reliability, comfort working in community and outdoor settings, ability to stand and lift light equipment, orientation or training session required prior to participation, and for clinical roles: relevant certifications or student status in healthcare-related programs.
