90% Flight Paramedic – AirCare 4 (Davenport, IA) The AirCare program is hiring for the AirCare 4 base in Davenport, Iowa. AirCare supports high‑level compassionate, emergency, and critical care services to hospitals, public safety agencies, and the community. The program combines a highly experienced medical staff with the latest aviation technology, medical equipment, pharmacology, and regular continuing education to safely transport high‑risk and complex patients. Position Responsibilities Respond to all AirCare requests for patients 28 days and older; participate in physical assessment and initiate/continue care per AirCare protocol; conduct ongoing assessment, troubleshooting, and communicate patient status, history, and treatment en route and upon arrival. Monitor and manage airway and ventilation. Administer medications via oral, rectal, sublingual, nasal, topical, otic, ophthalmic, endotracheal, inhalation, enteral, parenteral, and intraosseous routes. Provide oxygen therapy, cardiac monitoring (including 12‑lead acquisition and interpretation), cardioversion, defibrillation, and transthoracic pacing. Control hemorrhage; perform spinal immobilization and splinting; insert and monitor peripheral IV and intraosseous lines; maintain medicated IVs. Obtain venous and urine samples; assist clinicians with tube thoracostomy, chest tube management, pacemaker monitoring, arterial line access, and central venous line monitoring. Perform advanced life‑support procedures such as oral intubation, rapid‑sequence intubation, intraosseous access, needle thoracostomy, and surgical cricothyroidotomy. Inspect all AirCare supplies, equipment, and medications at the start of each shift; restock as needed. Work in a safe environment; consistently apply safety practices for patients, crew, and self in accordance with FAA regulations and AirCare protocol. Communicate any changes in patient condition or disposition and report unusual incidents. Complete related and routine clerical tasks as required. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Eligibility Requirements High‑school graduation. Current Iowa EMT‑PS, National Registered Paramedic, or Critical Care Paramedic certification. BCLS, ACLS, PALS (or PEPP), and a trauma certification; NRP, TPATC, or ATLS required within 6 months of hire. Minimum three years of advanced life‑support experience in the field as a full‑time emergency response paramedic. Demonstrated success in advanced life‑support practice. Acquire Certified Flight Paramedic certification within two years of hire. Special Qualifications Iowa Critical Care Endorsement. Desired Qualifications Three years of advanced life‑support field experience as an emergency response paramedic or current ER experience with advanced life‑support background. Current paramedic certification by the Iowa Department of Public Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services. Advanced trauma certification. Associate degree in Paramedic. Compensation Pay Grade: GC66/15 Pay Level: 15 Starting Salary Minimum: $55,755.86 Starting Salary Maximum: $72,631.08 Schedule and Type Part‑time, 90% time commitment. Rotating 24‑hour and 12‑hour shifts, plus every other weekend and holiday rotation. Merit‑based appointment, regular position.
