Assistant Professor of Instruction

The Department of Psychology at Texas State University is seeking an Assistant Professor of Instruction with expertise in mind-body health. This is a promotion-eligible instructional position at the Round Rock campus effective spring 2027. Assistant Professors of Instruction are eligible for a five-year term. Eligibility for annual reappointment is contingent upon satisfactory annual performance evaluations during the term period, in addition to continuity of funding and department needs. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications. The successful candidate will be expected to 1) teach introductory psychology, psychopathology, personality psychology, social psychology, cognitive and behavioral therapies, forensic psychology, and health psychology, 2) develop new courses in their area of expertise, 3) exhibit the potential for continued professional growth in teaching and instructional activities, 4) participate in institutional and professional service. This position is subject to the availability of funds.

Required Qualifications - PhD in Psychology, Mind-Body Medicine, or related area. Prior experience teaching introductory psychology, psychopathology, personality psychology, social psychology, cognitive and behavioral therapies, forensic psychology, and health psychology at the university level. Demonstrated current and contemporary competence in teaching. The potential for continued professional growth in teaching and instructional activities.

Preferred Qualifications - Expertise in applied and therapeutic humor. Excellent communication skills. Willingness to collaborate with students and faculty on learning and service projects.
