Location: Geismar, Louisiana - On-site

Compensation: $20.00–$22.00 per hour, depending on experience

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Reports to: Accounting Manager

Position Summary

Bengal is seeking an organized, dependable Accounting Assistant to support the accounting team's daily work. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this role assists with invoice entry, document organization, spreadsheet updates, and routine account follow-up. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with numbers, keeps accurate records, and asks questions when information is incomplete or unclear.

Essential Job Functions

• Receive, organize, scan, and file invoices, receipts, statements, and other accounting documents.
• Enter invoice and transaction information into the accounting system under the direction of the Accounting Manager.
• Check documents for completeness and mathematical accuracy; flag missing approvals, duplicate items, and other discrepancies.
• Match invoices with available purchase orders, receipts, or supporting records and route missing information for follow-up.
• Update spreadsheets, vendor contact records, and routine accounting logs using consistent file names and accurate data.
• Help assemble payment packets, check-mailing materials, and supporting records for the accounts payable process.
• Gather statements and transaction details for reconciliations and month-end tasks completed by the accounting team.
• Respond to routine document requests and direct payment questions or unresolved issues to the appropriate accounting team member.
• Maintain orderly physical and electronic files and protect confidential company and vendor information.
• Assist with telephone coverage, correspondence, and other office support while keeping assigned accounting work current.
• Perform additional accounting and administrative tasks assigned by the Accounting Manager.

Required Qualifications

• Accurate typing and data-entry skills, attention to detail, and comfort working with numbers.
• Ability to use Microsoft Excel, email, and common office software to enter, organize, and retrieve information.
• Strong organization and the ability to follow procedures, prioritize assignments, and meet deadlines.
• Professional communication, dependability, and discretion with confidential information.
• Ability to learn accounting-system tasks, work with a team, and seek guidance when transactions need review.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous accounting support, bookkeeping, invoice processing, data-entry, or office experience.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics GP / Great Plains or another accounting system.
• Accounting or bookkeeping coursework or training.

Work Environment

This is an on-site office position in Geismar, Louisiana, with regular computer use, document review, telephone communication, and collaboration with the accounting team. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
