Prior Authorization Coordinator

Prior Authorization Coordinator – Reading, PA (Hybrid) The Prior Authorization Coordinator acts as onsite triage for identified patients and prescriptions, facilitating authorization, reimbursement, and dispensing of medications. The role requires mastery of EMR and dispensing software, patient and payer communication, and coordination across multiple clinics. Responsibilities Process prescriptions and manage EMR navigation for specialty medications. Provide excellent customer service to patients and healthcare professionals; triage pharmacist as needed. Verify patient information and insurance coverage; work with payers to resolve discrepancies. Complete prior authorizations by gathering documentation, submitting forms, and communicating with providers and insurers. Document all pertinent patient information professionally in the patient chart. Act as liaison between patient, pharmacy, and other healthcare providers to ensure smooth workflow. Participate in training new staff and quality improvement projects. Maintain awareness of latest developments in pharmacy practice and continuing education opportunities. Education & Qualifications Minimum 2+ years of progressive pharmacy technician experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred. National pharmacy technician certification preferred (e.g., PTCB); full PA technician licensure required. Skills Professional oral and written communication. Ability to work independently and as part of a fast‑paced team. Strong interpersonal skills; adept at addressing patient issues. Familiarity with pharmaceutical products, terminology, and clinical pharmacy services. Organizational and detail‑oriented work style. Analytical skills and commitment to patient confidentiality.
