Description

Summary: This position is responsible for writing programs for and operating a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) to verify that the configuration of manufacture parts meets the customer's requirements. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Review planning, engineering drawings, and digital models to determine proper dimensions and tolerance specifications for specific parts and/or tools to be measured
• Start equipment and select program from the available listings, match part/tool identification with computer program, and perform set up operations
• Position and level part / tool on surface plate of CMM taking care not to damage part / tool or the machine
• Activate digital readout equipment and record specified measurements
• Compare measurements to specified dimensions and tolerances noting discrepancies
• Perform manual dimensional check as needed to verify questionable results
• Document all non-conforming conditions
• Analyze data, prepare, and deliver reports
• Identify and participate in continuous improvement projects
• Communicate effectively (verbal and written) with all contacts
• Accept and adapt easily to change

Qualifications

Requirements:

• Experience with recent version of PC DMIS required
• Experience creating CMM programs desired
• Experience operating CMM with DCC controls required
• Familiarity with AS9100
• Proficient reading blueprints, using shop math, and GD&T required
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply customer defined standards and specifications
• Exhibits dependability, including following instructions; responding to supervisor's direction; and taking responsibility for own actions
• Ability to take initiative, including asking for and offering help when needed, and perform work independently without being prompted
• Ability to manage competing priorities, prioritize and plan work activities, use time efficiently, and work within deadlines
• Well-developed presentation preparation and delivery skills
• Flexibility to work evenings or weekends and travel as needed (less than 10% of time)
