Lead Personnel Liaison

Job Description and Duties

Important Information: This is a 12-month limited-term appointment with the possibility of becoming permanent.

The Lead Personnel Liaison (PL) provides day-to-day direction and support to junior Personnel Liaisons in the performance of routine and complex hiring practices, including the interpretation and application of personnel laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. The Lead PL serves as a subject matter expert on division and DOJ hiring policies, and best practices, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and quality customer service.

The Lead PL serves as the primary trainer and mentor for the junior PLs by developing and maintaining comprehensive training plans, delivering training, providing ongoing coaching and technical guidance, evaluation performance during the training period, providing feedback to management on individual and team progress, and making recommendations to management. The Lead PL collaborates with the team to continuously update training plans, desk manuals, standard operation procedures and other instruction materials.

Working Conditions

This position offers a combined in-office and remote work schedules. You are required to come to the office every Wednesday. If you are interested in maintaining a work/life balance, savings on transportation expenses and want work flexibility, this positon may be for you.

• Experience developing or improving business processes, standard operating procedures (SOPs), training materials, or workflow efficiencies.
• Ability to exercise discretion, maintain confidentiality, and handle sensitive personnel matters with professionalism and integrity.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders while providing outstanding customer service.

1. Describe a time when you  demonstrated strong customer service while handling an urgent request. What was the situation, what actions did you take to understand and resolve the customer’s needs, and what was the outcome?
2. Describe your experience developing and delivering formal or informal training. Include how you created or  maintained training plans, desk manuals,  standard operation procedures, or other instructional  materials. Explain how you  monitored progress, provided coaching and mentoring and communicated feedback and recommendation to management.
