About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Correctional Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1 year minimum required License: Active Registered Nurse license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, MOAB (facility will provide) Must-Have: MOAB certification is required; if the traveler does not have it, they will receive a 4-hour de-escalation course during the first week. Must be able to sustain being on feet for 80% of the shift. No locals within 100-mile radius can apply. Must be able to pass facility background check. Description: The Registered Nurse will provide patients with routine and emergency healthcare. They will conduct health assessments and make necessary referrals to providers, including those for detoxification, dental, and mental health. The RN will be responsible for triaging and assessing new patients, conducting detox rounds per protocol. The average daily population fluctuates between 1640 to 1950 inmates. The RN will provide urgent care and sick calls in the pods. The role requires skills in phlebotomy, starting IVs, high flow nasal cannula management, and non-invasive airway management. The RN must be familiar with interpreting dysrhythmias and managing oxygen administration. Support services include interpretation, phlebotomy, and pharmacy. The RN may float between detox, medical intake, and behavioral health areas as needed. It is essential to adhere to isolation precautions and maintain a safe environment for both staff and patients. COVID vaccine is optional, but flu vaccine is required with medical or religious exemptions only. Candidates with ED or med-surg experience are preferred for this correctional setting. Unit offers the potential for accommodating block scheduling requests based on unit needs.
