Position Summary The Dining Room Manager provides operational support to the Director of Culinary Experience and serves as second in command in the director's absence. The manager supervises wait staff in day-to-day dining operations and maintains a high-quality, safe environment for all residents and visitors. Essential Job Functions Maintain warm, hospitable relations in all resident contacts within budgeted guidelines. Promote resident engagement during mealtimes, monitor satisfaction, and address concerns about food service. Ensure high quality and safety practices in all dining room service. Maintain sanitation and control standards in the dining room and wait stations. Ensure cleanliness, proper attire, and health standards are maintained by the dining team. Maintain professional appearance and ethics for self and subordinates. Manage and oversee food service schedules. Communicate effectively between departments and corporate personnel. Assist with coordination of catering, banquets, and activities. Monitor and evaluate food quality for presentation, temperature, and portions; provide leadership and share resident feedback with the production team. Monitor and evaluate table service timing and etiquette; provide hospitality training and adjustments as needed. Promote the success of others. Starting pay Starting pay ranges from $75,000 to $85,000 annually. Pay factors include scope, responsibilities, experience, education, job-related skills, internal equity, and market considerations. Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent. ServSafe certificate required. Training and Experience: Two years of supervisory experience preferred. Minimum five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in dining services, restaurant, hospitality, or food and beverage operations. Experience supervising front-of-house teams; experience in senior living, healthcare, hotel, or fine-dining environments is preferred. Foundational knowledge of wine and spirits, including varietals, food pairings, responsible service, and inventory control. Proficiency with point-of-sale (POS) systems for order entry, billing, reporting, and reconciliation. Proven experience planning, coordinating, and executing private events, banquets, and catered functions. Knowledge and Abilities: Ability to work harmoniously with residents, staff, and healthcare professionals while maintaining high ethical standards. Strong leadership, coaching, conflict-resolution, and team-development skills. Ability to recruit, train, schedule, evaluate, and motivate a diverse hospitality team. Solid understanding of food safety regulations, HACCP, infection-prevention practices, and state/local requirements. Business acumen including labor scheduling, supply ordering, inventory management, beverage cost control, and budget oversight. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate across departments and address resident and family feedback. Proficiency with POS systems, scheduling tools, and standard office software. Ability to stay calm and effective during peak service times and special events.
