HR Business Partner

Position Summary Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) managing, directing, and coordinating Human Resources policies and programs including labor relations, wage & salary administration, orientation & training, safety & health, benefits & employee services, compliance, and more. The HRBP also manages recruitment, development, & retention of employees, oversees HR programs to foster development and employee relations, works as a liaison between employees and management, and reports to the leadership team to identify opportunities and solve business issues. Responsibilities Implement and oversee on‑going HR programs, policies, and procedures to develop overall management, supervisory engagement, and employee relations in the location. Act as an employee advocate, championing Smithfield culture and ensuring alignment to the Smithfield Way. Supervise HR staff directly or through supervisors, planning assignments, coaching, mentoring, evaluating performance, and making recommendations. Partner with business to identify current and future skills needed and lead succession planning. Drive communication and collaboration with employees and leadership to retain employees and drive business goals. Determine training and educational needs based on facility dynamics and deploy solutions. Own execution of the location’s affirmative action plan to achieve AAP goals for all employment processes. Make primary decisions on policy or contract interpretation. Develop and implement innovative solutions to employee and labor relations issues to mitigate legal or compliance risks. Maintain a positive labor/employee relations environment by counseling managers and employees on policies and rules. Perform data analysis and prepare statistical and narrative reports to identify business opportunities and formulate goals and objectives. Use data to construct business cases and influence change. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field and 5+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination. 2+ years of demonstrated experience in team management, development or project leadership. General knowledge of employment laws and practices. Knowledge of Human Resource systems, internet software, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), payroll database software. Specialized knowledge of HR systems, processes and procedures including administration of benefits and compensation. Prior experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred). Strong reasoning and math skills. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Commitment to confidentiality. Ability to travel 5–10% of the time. Ability to work well with others in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment. Team‑oriented, approachable, respectful, building strong relationships. Additional Qualifications Bi‑lingual skills preferred. Physical Demands & Work Environment Capable of sitting for extended periods of time. Able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms. Vision: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception. Able to travel as needed. Reasonable accommodations may be made. Compensation Salary Range: $87,000–$131,250 (annual).
