Reports to: Director, Product Certification
FLSA: Exempt
Location: Remote
Hours Worked: Typically, Monday through Friday, 40 per week.
However, must be flexible to meet the needs of the department and complete other projects as assigned.

Position Summary:
Manage and maintain the NRTL Product Safety Program in coordination with Certification Director within the global Bureau Veritas network.

Objectives:
Responsible for the management of all aspects of the certification programs for NRTL - Product Safety. Responsible for operation of certification teams, quality system maintenance and expansions related accreditations program as well as monitoring the compliance of and enforcing all program rules with partner test labs, inspection centers and inspectors.

Major Roles & Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning
 Develop Business Plans for Maintaining, Expanding, and Improving the program
 Participate in Financial and Budget review and planning
 Develop and Report on KPIs
 Maintain relationships with Stakeholders, Scheme Owners, Accreditation Bodies and SDOs
1. Certification
 Development, maintenance, and improvement of NRTL - Product Safety Certification Programs (including future program expansions).
 Principle contact for NRTL Certification Program with accreditors and governing bodies.
 Responsible for compliance with the certification program rules.
 Responsible for external laboratory certification audits as directed by programs.
 Responsible for monitoring and developing programs at external labs.
 Responsible for certification and withdrawal of clients within the program.
 Responsible for performing certification reviews and decisions on projects of variety of product safety standards
2. Inspections/Surveillance
 Directing staff for coordination of factory inspections and surveillance activities worldwide.
 Responsible for training and inspection witnessing for factory inspectors worldwide.
 Responsible for approving and reviewing inspection and surveillance reports.
 Responsible for certification and withdrawal of factories within the program.
 Directing staff for coordination of market sampling
3. Customer Focus duties
 Assist in regularly surveying internal and external customers to evaluate and improve the certification program and overall client services.
 Assist in resolution of client complaints as required.
 Promote certification (both internally and externally) to increase business
 Provide internal and external program training, hold informational seminars, and attend industry conferences
 Negotiate supplier agreements with regards to surveillance and other certification activities
 Negotiate pricing and partner agreements with outside test laboratories

4. Other duties and responsibilities
 Keep current with regulations, accreditations, certifications, and registrations pertaining to Certification Department.
 Create and maintain certification and surveillance price lists
 Create and maintain local standard operating procedures for all certification programs
 Support certification audits by accreditors and provide and implement corrective actions to deficiencies
 Provide support to laboratory regarding projects intended to be certified
 Provide support to Sales regarding customers who need certification services
 Manage and maintain all policies and procedures pertaining to independence and ownership conflict of interest
 Create and maintain certification related trademarks and registrations

 Technical aptitude, the ability to quickly assimilate and assess new information and develop plans to capitalize or react to it
 Familiarity of Quality Assurance concepts, processes, and systems and the demonstrated ability to implement them
 Client interaction skills: Demonstrated ability to work with customers, determine their requirements, help secure additional business, define and assist in solving problems, and generally ensure their total satisfaction
 Problem solving skills including the ability to lead groups of diverse people through a problem solving process
 The ability to organize and prioritize daily activities and workload.

 Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation and equipment pertaining to Certification evaluations

Experience and Educational Background Required:
 Minimum of a BS technical degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering or
 Quality Assurance knowledge desired.
 Ten (10) years of progressive experience in the testing or certification of electrical products
 Demonstrated experience leading a diverse group of people
 Demonstrated experience in dealing directly with customers and auditors.
 3+ years in hazardous location testing, evaluation, and certification (ATEX, IECEx, NEC Article 500/505 standards)
 Demonstrated expertise in hazardous location project reviews, including risk assessment and compliance validation
 Familiarity with industry standards (NFPA 70, IEC 60079 series) and regulatory frameworks

An equivalent combination of education and experience in lieu of a degree

Compensation Range: $135k - $140k annually (e.g., the job posting is not necessarily reflective of actual compensation that may be earned, and actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as locations, education, experience, and skillset).
