Job Description:

Position Information:


- Role: Registered Nurse (RN)
- Specialty: Critical Care/Intensive Care
- Shift: 7P - 7A
- Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours
- Weekend Hours: Every other weekend
- Call Requirements: None

Requirements:


- Required Certifications:
- ACLS
- BLS
- NIHSS
- Minimum Years of Experience: 5 years
- Float Requirements:
- Critical Care Unit
- CVICU overflow
- Critical Care Step-Down
- Med-Surg

Unit Information:


- Number of Beds:
- CCU: 22
- CVICU: 14 (varies with surgeries/overflow)
- CCSD: 31
- Patient Ratios:
- CCU: 1:2, 1:3
- CVICU: 1:2, 1:3
- CCSD: 1:4, 1:5
- Med-surg: 1:6

Equipment:


- Advanced Monitoring: SpaceLabs bedside monitoring with continuous ECG, O2, Respiratory, BP, CVP, and PA monitoring
- IV Pumps: Baxter/Spectrum IV pumps
- Feeding Pumps: Kangaroo feeding pumps
- Beds: Hill-Rom critical care beds
- Ventilators: Variety of ventilators available
- Special Equipment: Prismaflex CRRT machines, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps, Blanketrols, Arctic Sun, Rapid-Transfusion and Fluid warming

EHR System:


- Meditech with clinical access for ICU patients

Supervision:


- Direct Supervisor: Alexandra Annett

Patient Population:


- Focus: Adult and Geriatric patients

Hiring Profile:


- Must Have Skills/Experience:
- Efficient time management
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in nursing skills: IV starts, blood draws, NG tube placements, ECG rhythm interpretation, lab and ABG interpretation
- Management of critical care drips, ventilators, arterial lines, chest tubes, and more
- Exceptional communication skills with patients and families
- Preferred Skillset/Experience:
- Background in teaching hospitals
- High-acuity ICU experience with advanced skills management: CRRT, IABP, arterial sheath pulls
- Prior experience in SICU, MICU, CVICU, Neuro ICU, and PCU/Med-surg

Common Diagnoses/Treatments:


- Respiratory Failure
- Ischemic and Hemorrhagic strokes
- STEMI/NSTEMI
- Cardiogenic Shock
- Septic Shock
- GI Bleeds
- Post-operative GI disorders
- CABGs
- Vascular procedures

Required Education:


- Completion of all online learning Lifetalent assignments: NIHSS, ACLS/BLS, Moderate Sedation/Analgesia, iStat, and glucometer certifications
