Sr Director Analyst, AI and Software Engineering (Remote- US)

About the role:Gartner Analysts are industry thought leaders who create must-have research, market predictions and best practices for a broad range of world-leading organizations. A Senior Director serves as a leader within Gartner’s Business and Technology Insights (BTI) group, establishing oneself as a credible voice within their designated market at local, regional and global levels. Utilizing exceptional research and analytical skills, a Senior Director plays a significant role in producing pragmatic and provocative research which Gartner clients consume and apply to propel their business toward key objectives. They are a trusted source of advice for clients, reinforcing Gartner’s value every day by engaging them via in-person meetings, virtual meetings, sales support visits and Gartner conferences to discuss complex client challenges and offer appropriate recommendations. We are seeking a seasoned software engineering leader to join Gartner as a research analyst and industry thought leader focused on the future of engineering within technology vendor organizations. Leveraging your expertise in engineering practices, team leadership, and emerging AI tools, you will identify market trends, analyze best practices, and serve as a trusted advisor to technology company executives.In this role, you will be responsible for authoring pragmatic and thought-provoking content, including market predictions, and delivering actionable insights and recommendations to clients through webinars, in-person presentations, and client meetings.What you will do: Research, analyze and predict software engineering trends and innovations Monitor and evaluate the competitive landscape across software engineering tool vendors, solutions, and service providers Create compelling, high-quality research reports, white papers, and thought leadership content that provides clients with actionable insights Develop frameworks, methodologies, and best practices to help organizations successfully implement solutions Through virtual and face-to-face interactions, advise senior executives on their strategic decisions Create and deliver high value presentations at Gartner events, industry and professional association conferences, and client briefings Build external credibility as an industry expert to represent Gartner research and insights Provide sales support to help drive engagement with prospects and clients Actively participate in innovation, ideation, and research discussions and collaborate effectively with peers within the Gartner research community Develop in-depth analysis to identify the root cause of a client’s barriers or overall needs and reframe thinking to drive strategy forward Demonstrate thought leadership in establishing research positions across a team of analystsWhat you will need: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; Graduate degree preferred12+ years of relevant field or industry experienceExperience leading a software engineering organization, with an understanding of key challenges and opportunities Deep knowledge of software architecture principlesand challenges for SaaS platformsUp-to-date knowledge of AI development toolsPreferred qualifications: Significant experience in the role of Vice President of Engineering or equivalent at software vendor organization(s) Deep expertise in AI technologies Prior experience at a research and advisory firm, consulting organization, or similar role Demonstrate executive presence; can immediately establish credibility with executives and additional stakeholdersStrong organizational skills; ability to work under tight deadlines and produce high quality deliverablesDemonstrate excellence in research and writing abilityStrong written and verbal proficiency, analytical and presentation skills; ability to engage clients and respond effectively to questionsProficient in analyzing and synthesizing data; can effectively apply patterns and frameworks while drawing and defending conclusions to client challengesStrong communicator who is able to explain complex concepts concisely and simplySubject matter expert comfortable presenting at large and small-scale speaking engagementsStrong business and financial acumenDeep knowledge of the global and competitive landscape within subject area as well as the interplay in that marketAbility to work independently, while also being intrinsically motivated to collaborate across teams and support the workflow of others, in a multicultural global teamLearning agile and adept with navigating highly matrixed environmentsAbility to represent Gartner's research methodology and strategies effectively at all levelsWillingness and ability to travel up to 25% (where applicable)#LI-remote#LI-AV1Who are we? Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
