Quality SupervisorUnder direction of the Quality Assurance Manager, the Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for supervising and directing Quality Assurance Technician personnel across all schedules and shifts, while working closely with the Production and the Quality Teams to identify, solve, and prevent issues affecting quality and food safety. Responsible for assisting the Quality Assurance Manager and the rest of the Vermont Creamery Management Team in the continuous improvement of the quality system for BRC GS, EQMS, and regulatory compliance. A key position within the Vermont Creamery Quality Assurance Team, the Quality Assurance Supervisor provides expertise and support to the Operations Team and Plant Management Team, fostering a cross departmental food safety, quality, and compliance culture.Hours: 8am – 5pm Monday - Friday; Shift schedules could include days, nights, weekends, some holidays, hours subject to business needsCompetencies, Skills, and KnowledgeMust possess strong leadership skills, problem solving skills and decision-making skillsStrong Microsoft Office, word processing, data entry skills, and statistical analysis skills requiredMust be able to perform mathematical calculation and analysisAbility to conduct and interpret lab analysisMust be able to handle multiple assignmentsMust be precise, accurate and well organizedMust be able to perform in a demanding, fast-paced environmentExcellent communicator, influencer, and negotiator, to work cross-functionally with multiple departments and leadership levelsIntelligent, fast-learner, strategic and innovative thinker, agile, and comfortable with continuous changeRequired Education and Experience:Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Microbiology or other related fields.Knowledge of regulatory requirements for dairy manufacturing is preferred.Experience with GFSI audit schemes (BRC GS, SQF, FSSC 22000, etc.) is required.Experience in lab and quality program management required.PCQI and HACCP certifications strongly preferredEssential Functions & Responsibilities:Direct and coordinate the activities of the Quality Assurance Technicians including timecard approvalAssure engagement and completion of all Vermont Creamery proficiency testing for microbiological and analytical testingAssure laboratory safety and good laboratory practicesIn conjunction with the Quality Assurance Manager, disposition non-conforming product and equipment in a timely mannerWith the assistance of the Quality Assurance Technicians, react and respond to quality and food safety issues in the production area. Assist with investigation and incident resolutionCoordinate, manage and assist in collection of environmental monitoring swabsWith the assistance of the Quality Assurance Technicians, perform verification on finished goods documentation to ensure that each finished good lot meets positive release criteriaPlan and establish work schedules and coverage in the event of planned and unplanned absences of QA TechniciansLead the Vermont Creamery Internal Auditing Team in conducting monthly internal GMP audits. Track, trend, document, and coordinate resolution of audit findingsLead consumer complaint investigations. Track and trend consumer complaintsSupports the compliance for BRC GS while supporting continuous improvement for Quality metrics/Key Performance Indicators (KPI) in their area of responsibilitySupports quality improvement initiatives (e.g. consumer complaints, product defect reduction) within the plantEnsures compliance with all regulatory and Vermont Creamery guidelines pertaining to safety, health, and environmentalEnsures that a high quality of products, services, housekeeping, and hygiene standards are maintained and improved in designated areasImplement, maintain, and improve the Vermont Creamery CAPA prerequisite programInvestigates and analyzes incidents to identify trends in product quality and food safety information. Initiates corrective actions and communicates findings as appropriateUses root cause analysis and continuous improvement tools to help isolate and resolve quality and food safety issuesManage Kosher, non-GMO and GFCO certificationsSalary Range: $70,800 - $106,200. In most cases, candidates offered employment can expect to be hired at a pay rate near the middle of our salary ranges.
